Another missed opportunity to beat wenger’s lot in the league.
When eboo boy was sent off I smelt blood but we just couldn’t get it done. Keano looked lively as ever and Palacios was superb in the middle of the park, even at 11 versus 11 we had the edge.

Nobody was surprised when wenger claimed, “I didn’t see it” when quizzed on eboo boy’s sending off. Come on arsene, it was right in front of the dug out. If you can see the disallowed goal incident from your Ferrari seat on the touchline why can’t you see what’s going on righ in front of your eyes?

At least we killed off any lingering hopes the scummers had of mounting a title challenge. If Modric could have converted that last minute chance it would have been a happier day.

I was going to post highlights of the game for those who have trouble sleeping but here’s  Eboue being booed off by his own fans instead.

Enjoy, I know I did.

Close but no cigar. After staging a remarkable comeback we still bleeding lost.

We conceded two from set pieces which is a worry but most teams lose out to goals like that against the trotters.

It was good to see Bendy notch, I doubt if Mrs Redknapp would have gobbled up those chances, plus he’s still ahead of ‘Nando Torres in the goal scoring charts which makes me piss myself.

Click here to see what the Boton bloke thought about it.

Check out the goals below and pray we beat the scum next Sunday.

Easy, easy, easy. A blistering first half put paid to Stoke’s ambitions to record their first win on the road in the Premier league.

Our goals were quality especially the second which was the result of a slick passing move. When we’re knocking it about like that it reminds you of how we can play. Despite Stoke not being brilliant away they’ve held Liverpool so it was encouraging to see how we carved them up in the first 45.

Bolton away next, hopefully we can keep it up. I doubt it we’re always dog shit up there but let’s keep them crossed.

Anyhoo, here’s the goals from our magnificent win.

Tottenham v Stoke

A dire game in which only Spurs players scored. We were good value for the lead after half an hour but what difference a deflection makes. The thing that was hardest to take was the way Ubited constructed the winner. Carrick lifts a peach of a pass into Berba who finishes with aplomb. The Bulgarian seemed to be a gentleman about it but it’s hard to tell if he celebrated or not. The most gallng part of the whole sorry affair is that we didn’t have Carrick and Berba in the same time at Spurs and the goal they manufacturered was a taste of what could have been. We may have made good money on the sale of the pair to the mancs but at what price. In Carrick’s last game for us we were a win away from entering the Champions League, with Berba we came fifth and won a cup. Now we’re near the relegation zone.

If we go down the £35 million we cleared on Carrick and Berbatov’s sales will seem like small fry.

Here’s loads of Spurs players scoring at Old Trafford.

You can’t be happy the stuff coming out of our manager about our next cup game? Weakest squad I can find? That’s just not cricket Harry. The FA Cup is special to us gaffer please don’t write it off.

This romantic approach is one of the many reasons most of us aren’t football managers. The realities of managing a squad threatened with relegation but there a case for putting out our strongest team. A win, at Old Trafford, could give us the boostto goon the sort of run we embarked on when Redknapp first took over.

It’s naïve I know but bollocks to it, I’m a romantic.

Despite everything that’s been said we could have a chance. United have quite a few injuries and may be taking this game as seriously as Harry does. We’ve still got it in us to put a performance, hopefully the fringe players will take their chance to impress.

Who am I trying to kid? Away to the European Champions? When they rest players it means they play Tevez instead of Berbatov.

We’re going to get tonked.

‘Spurs are on their way to Wembley (boom boom) Tottenham’s going to do it again’. We didn’t deserve it though. Burnley outplayed us in both games, if it wasn’t for that incredible 45 minutes at White Hart Lane where Burnley imploded we would have been humiliated. Well more humiliated anyway.

Harry’s outburst after the game will gain some column inches. I’m undecided as to the rights and wrongs of it. One thing’s for sure, that was not good enough. But for a bit more composure in front of goal, demonstrated by our expensive strikers and lacking from Burnley, we were out.

I show Pav little respect but he did it again, scoring another important goal and he showed a few touches that may make me stop calling him Pile-of-wanko, I don’t understand how he does it but I like it.

Ho hum at least we are one game away from retaining our cup.

‘They can’t stop them the boys from Tottenham the boys from White Hart Lane.’

Bloody hell what a miss. Darren Bent’s sitter was a shocking error but the way Harry’s reacted to it in public is a bit much.  That isn’t how you instil confidence in a misfiring striker. It was a shocker though.

It’s a shame that Darren’ fluffing his lines is the abiding memory of the game as it was a cracker. It’s that sort of end to end action that makes this league so popular. Pompey were a threat throughout and we had some excellent chances it’s amazing only two goals were scored.

If we play like that we should be fine Arron Lennon was excellent, Modric is having more and more influence over the team and even Bentley looked like he was getting closer to the player we bought.

The bad news is Ledley look crocked for a long time. We are a better side when he plays but surely he’s close to hanging up his boots for good. Hopefully his organisational skills could be put to use as a coach. I love the bloke ad wish him a speedy recovery even if he never plays for us again.

All in all it was a missed opportunity but a decent point considering we were behind. It got us out of the relegation zone and the performance should set us up for the semi final on Wednesday.

Could have done with three points though.

12 Jan, 09 | Tags: Match Reports

Ah, we’re shit again. Turgid game of few chances, lost in the last minute to a free header from a corner. Like I said, we’re shit. The less said about this defeat the better.

Oh well, Pompey up next and the return of some bloke who used to play for us. Both clubs want an end to the abuse. Good luck.

7 Jan, 09 | Tags: Match Reports

How the bloody hell did we do that? Burnley played us off the park in the first half. It was like watching a Champions League team. Their passing and movement was different class and we were very lucky to go into half time only a goal down.

Then we went mental and scored loads of goals. The timing of our equaliser was important the introduction of Jamie O’Hara changed the game. The lad has got to be a regular surely, everytime he plays he puts another one of his midfielders to shame. This time he exposed Bentley as ineffectual when he came on, Dave really has to find some for in the second half of the season. His goal against the arse will give him a bit longer to settle in before the fans turn on him but it’s a fading memory

3 Jan, 09 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Can any of you help me work out Roman Pavlyuchenko? Non Spurs fan pals of mine refer to him as Pile-of-wanko, I call him the lump, he doesn’t win headers, has an awful fist touch and the turning circle of northern Cyprus. But the bloke scores goals, like loads.

The Russian is just ridiculous in front of goal, sometimes. As much as I’d like to I can’t complain the bloke’s scored 10 goals since he signed. Another good sign is Luka is totally justifying ‘Arry’ plan to build the team around him. His third goal in four games the wee man is really looking the business which is another reason we have to improve. If we lose him in 18 months because we’re rubbish I’m going to smash the place up.

Talking of crowd reactions you’ve got to feel for Hossam Ghaly. Booed of before he got he won’t play for Spurs again. What he did with the shirt was unthinkable but he’s only young and the sort of player we could do with in the squad. He’s brave scores the odd goal and has potential to improve. Shame really, personally I wish him well but I could be in the minority.

Repeat after me. “We are shit.” There I said it.

Blind support and bottomless confidence in our beloved Spurs won’t keep us up this season and with one point over the Christmas period we have every chance of going down.

We lost to the bottom club in what could turn out to be a six pointer for crying out loud. Granted we were reduced to ten men in the first half but we need players prepared to do the job of two men in our current position.

At least we’re still in the cups with a very real chance of getting into Europe. But on this form we could be dumped out of the FA and Legue pots in just over a week.

27 Dec, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

Hmmm, it’s happening. We’re not getting the results we need to climb the table. I went to this fixture on boxing day last year and we carved the west londeners up. A year later and with an expensively assembled team we looked toothless. We had plenty of the ball but didn’t create many chances.

Respect to Fulham, over the last twelve months they’ve shown massive improvement. Roy Hodgson for me is the best English manager out there, how he was overlooked when they gave McClaren the job is beyond me.

On the plus side for us Gomes is still improving. His point winning save from AJ near the end showed the why we bought him. Defensively we looked ok but we need more bite up front. The transfer window opens in less than a week don’t be surprised if we pay well over the odds for a few strikers.

22 Dec, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

Bollox. We can’t be too surprised as we always lose league games up there but being beaten by a last minute goal crafted by two perma crocks is hard to take. The good news is Luka looks like the Modric-funking man. Two goals in two games have rewarded ‘Arry’s constant praise of the Croatian star, if the rest of the boys could match his quality and tenacity we’d be fine by now.

Going into the oft tricky Christmas period we need to pick up some wins. This time of year is all about if onlys. If we could have got something out of this game and six points from our next towo fixture (at home to bad travellers Fulham and away to the bottom side West Brom) then we’ll be back in the hunt for a European place through the league. Anything less and we’re deep in the relegation dogfight. The league is bloddy tight this year and we need to take advantage of that.

19 Dec, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Bloody hell that was close. Two down at half time and on our way out of the cup we had to dig deep. Or did we? The UEFA Cup is a strange old competition where only the top 4% of the population can work out how you go through. Luckily they’re making it even more complicated next year and I hope we’ll still be in it so moan about it.

Glad to see Modric off the mark. He’s been threatening it for a while and it looks like he’s finally got to grips with life in England. Hopefully he’ll figure out his teammates are rubbish and try and do it all on his tod. Congrats also to the Hudd. I love the bloke and the more important goals he chips in with the more we’ll see him on pitch, which can only be a good thing.

So into the knock out stages we go I just hope we don’t draw any of the European powerhouses left in our competition. We seem fragile at the moment and a good side will expose us.

Here’s hoping.

14 Dec, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

Blimey we could do alright you know. We’re now unbeaten against last years top four and we held our own in this entertaining nil nil. Gomez is really coming into his own with a man of the match performance and generally the defence and parts of the midfield played well.

For years we got nothing from the big teams, now we’re getting results. A marked improvement and long may it continue. Sure Unted fans will say we were fortunate to get anything out of this game pointing towards Giggsy’s free kick that hit the post in the last minute, well I have two words for all of you. Pedro. Mendes.

If youtube hadn’t turned into the fun police I’d post a video.

An away league victory against ‘Arry’s old boys is always sweet. I don’t have a great deal of love for the hammers nor do most lilywhites I know so to turn them over on their own patch is particularly satisfying. Special mention goes out to Jamie O’Hara who surely has to play more often. He’s one of those players who doesn’t go missing when the chips are down and lets not make any bones about it we’re still in amongst it at the foot of the table.

There’s talk of Franco the little Fonz losing his job off the back of West Ham’s rubbish form. I’m all for it so normal service can be resumed and neutrals will dislike the hammers as much as we do.

4 Dec, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Shit game great result. We can’t ask for fairer than that at this stage of the Cup. Past the quarter final stage with a 66% chance of getting a Championship side in the semis our most realistic avenue into Europe is still wide open.

Despite getting through there’s still plenty to keep us concerned. Basically we lack an edge, probably because we have a goalie, Woody and 9 players who want to play in the hole. Obviously I’m exaggerating but it’s not that far off. Especially as our flair players aren’t producing regularly enough. You can say what you want about needing time to settle in to a new squads but these millionaire need to hurry up.

As the game was so very rubbish here’s footage of a better individual performance by a Hotspur against Watford.

30 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

So we lost then, goes to show what I know. Our first home loss under Harry combined with the results of the teams around us has left us back in the mire. Pienaar’s winner shortly after half time served as a reminder of just how far we’ve got to go.

There’s no great shame in losing to Everton. The toffees are a decent outfit, especially away from home, with this win pushing them up to seventh. Having said that we shouldn’t lose at home to anyone. Things could have been different, Lennon had a good chance and Bentley had one of his better games for us but Gomes was busy throughout so on the balance of it we can’t begrudge the result.

You’ve got to feel for Gareth Bale though. The Spurs bad luck charm still hasn’t played in a Spurs league victory. We’re pretty sure it’s not his fault but the longer it goes on...

28 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

….. and the Spurs go marching on. 7 wins in 9 games, two clean sheets in a row and progress in the UEFA Cup all but assured it was another good nights work. Add to that our 1 – 0 win was accomplished with a side more likely to play in the Carling Cup than a league fixture and we can be thoroughly pleased with ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong NEC Nijmegen are no European powerhouse, a my flatmate put it ‘who? They sound more like a reggae band than a football team’. He could be right but the ramblings of a bitter Liverpool fan can’t take anything away from the position we find ourselves in.

Jamie O’Hara, who is fast becoming one of my favourite players, was the pick of the bunch in a professional away display. There were a couple of concerns David Bentley has struggled to impose himself in open play all season. His delivery from set plays is still a threat but we haven’t seen sustained brilliance from him in a Spurs shirt. Also the lad Campbell looked a little out of sorts but he is lively as you like so there’s not too much to worry about.

Hopefully we can keep it up against Everton at The Lane. In the last couple of years the toffees have done us at home but these days Harry Hotspur has turned WHL into a bit of a fortress.

A home win, a clean sheet and we’re out of the bottom three. It was a good day. Harry is still the man picking up 13 of 18 available points. We bossed them today and have much to thanks jet heeled, turbo dwarf Aaron Lennon for. Blackburn had no answer to him in the first half. He single handily reduced them to ten men and created our opening goal. Now that’s the Lennon we know and love.

At the other end Gomes did enough without ever convincing but at least he had a shut out which is exactly we what he needed. Woodgate and King looked good together again which spread confidence through the team. Even though it was only one nil we never really looked like losing.

Now we have to keep it up for our trip to Holland to play N.E.C. Nijmegen in the UEFA cup on Thursday.

Onward and upwards.

Check out the highlights below.

16 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

The fairytale is over, for now. Our first loss under ‘Arry and one significant crack has emerged.
Gomes is a clown.

I hoped the kick in the face he got against the ‘pool would have knocked some sense into him but his skills and confidence is at an all time low. ‘Arry tried to give him some support after he threw the opening goal in his own net but you can see he wasn’t happy. We were hardly at the races against Fulham where we have a poor record but once they scored we never looked like getting anything out of the game. All the Tottenham rejects had a good game against their former employees, which tends to happen, but how they can give that goal to Simon Davies is a mystery to me.

Looking at the positives united striker took his goal well and even though I expected more going into the game Fulham are formidable at home already beating the arse at the Cottage this season. In fact this season it seems like everyone who beat us beat a*snal or vice versa.

Thankfully it’s international week and some of the boys who have been at the forefront of our revival are likely to be off with their countries. I just hope that the break will do Gomes good. He can practice catching in his garden and come back the keeper we thought we bought. I bloody hope so our next game is Blackburn at home on Sunday and in Santa Cruz, McCarthy and Roberts they have three strikers who thrive on the aerial challenge so Hilario better be ready.

Check out how bad he was at the weekend.

12 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

What a game. Again. We love it when the scousers come to The Lane. Like the chant at halftime went, “Can we play you every week?” We turned the ‘pool over thanks to the united striker and big Pav taking advantage of some comedy defending by the league leaders.

Granted this wasn’t the strongest outfit they could have sent out against us with 10 changes from the reds who went out at the weekend but we hardly had our strongest 11 out with 7 changes of our own. The feel good times are entrenched at WHL at the moment and ‘Arry can do no wrong.

The Spurs that turned up for this game were hungry, sharp in the tackle and showed plenty of quality, which is the Tottenham we sporadically know and always love. We still managed to make it more difficult than it shouldv’e been. At 3-0 up most teams think a game is dead but how many of you were still a bit wary going in at half time? United and City have done us over from the same position and Chelsea and a*snal have com eback from 3-1 down to us before so we’re never out of the woods unless three goals up with seconds remaining.

The performances of Hudd, O’Hara and most impressively Campbell caught the eye but (not so) Hilario’s clown impressions are really beginning to worry. I forgave him his fumbles early in the season thinking that’s what happens if you’re the last line of defensse in a team of shite, but now the rest of the team has picked up and he’s serving up the same shite week in week out. He is going to directly cost us points soon and with nobody to challenge him for a place there is no one to apply pressure. We just hope our mega expensive ‘keeper can start to justify his price tag.

Progress in this competition is looking good with the draw for the QFs in a few days. There are plenty of beatable teams left in the League Cup after
Barnsley’s heroics. If we get through our next tie put all your money on another Spurs – a*snal semi final, it’s tradition.

Look at how good we are.

spurs v reds

9 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

And the Spurs go marching on. As a club we’re either sublime or ridiculous and nothing in between, We’ve gone from our worst start to a league ever to the best start by a Spurs manager in donkey’s years.

We turned an inconsistent City over with the most satisfying part being another come from behind result. After little Bob’s opener we didn’t crumble. Traditionally we’re dog poo away from home so to come out on top after going behind is most satisfying. We’ve now got something on our travels after being one down against Chelsea, the arse an the blue mancs. Add our home game against the scousers and we have the look of a team with a bit of grit.

It’s good to see Bendy is still red hot. At the end of the transfer window we were saying he’d have to score as many goals as Keane and Berbs put together because we have no strikers, well he has so far so you can’t say fairer than that. As the form English stricker he has to be a shoe in against Ze Germans at the end of the month.

Personally I just hope he gets more league goals than Nando Torres so I can get some pride and much needed money back from my ill fated bet of last season.

This is how it went down.

Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur

6 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Blimey we’re good. Sometimes. After tonking the scoucers we go and put four past Dinamo Zagreb. Bendy got a hatrick, Hudd scored a peach and Bostock danced his way into the record books. We really do look a bit tasty these days. We all know the Croats weren’t brilliant but we put them to the sword comfortably and that’s all you can ask.

Looking ahead there aren’t many teams we fear. If we don’t play well enough the chances are we’ll win anyway. A couple of weeks into the season going to Man City would have filled me with dread but these days nobody frightens us, home or away.

Check out some average replays of the goals to a rock soundtrack.

2 Nov, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Can someone tell me what’s going on? We were awful for over an hour staring defeat against a very good Liverpool side in the face. Then all of a sudden we’ve beaten the league leaders. Like Sir red nose reindeer once said, “football, bloody hell”. Now we’re unbeaten against three of last years top four, which suggests the real standard of our team. United come to town next month and if we can make it a full set any lingering doubts over relegation are likely to be put to bed.

The scousers look the real deal. Difficult to play against with a threat going forward they could really challenge this year. We were lucky to get anything out of the game but who cares?

David Bentley is quickly becoming one of my favourite Hotspurs. He was rubbish for long periods but gave us about ten minutes of quality which turned the game. His ball in for the equaliser couldn’t be defended and his last minute shot led to Pav’s winner. If he could spread his contribution to half an hour imagine what we could achieve.

Hat’s off to ‘Arry. Whatever it is he’s doing seems to be working. The same players playing pretty much the same way are picking up remarkable results. Oneday must be sitting at home screwing wondering why the boys wouldn’t do that for him. Now we’re off the bottom of the league and confidence is sky high. They call it the ‘Redknapp Factor’ and long may it continue.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool

30 Oct, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video | Why I Love...

What. A. Game. From Bentley’s wonder strike to Lennon’s last ditch equaliser that was awesome. Classic Spurs. We can’t get too carried away there were a few things wrong with our performance. We have a clown in goal who inspires comedy defending and after we scored our 1st goal we sat off them too much. But we were away to a*snal and they’re not so bad at keeping the ball so all in all it couldn’t be helped.

It was a joy to see us have an attacking threat again and Modric really looks like he’s getting into the groove. This is what it’s all about shipping a shed load at one end and banging in a lorry load at the other. That’s what we’ve been brought up on.

Good on the lads and special mention should go out to JJ who has scored in his last three games against the gooners.

Treat yourself to the highlights below.

27 Oct, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

If someone told me all we needed to get a win was revolutionise the structure of the club I would have suggested it weeks ago.

‘Appy Arry has got off to a flier, now if he could only keep this 100% record up for the rest of his Spurs carreer he’ll become a Tottenham legend.

So Pav got his first league goal, Bentley and Modric looked more like the players we bought, Ledley played two games in a row and Benoît Assou-Ekotto was doing his best Roberto Carlos impression. We still looked like conceding at anytime but there was something different about the team.

What a difference a day makes.

Wednesday will go one of two ways. Either we continue to ride on our newfound confidence and play like we can against the south London interlopers or it will be a stark return to reality as a bunch of French kids spank us.

You can guess which I’m hoping for.

COYS.

So we lost again. Geovanni’s strike was a bit special and we did hit the wood work a couple of times but it doesn’t change the fact we’re still bottom of the league.

Oh why do we bother?

5 Oct, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

Despite getting through to the group stages of the UEFA cup we’re still rubbish. A one all draw away to Wisla was what we needed but it was far from convincing. Relying on a own goal, wayward finishing and some superb saves isn’t really good enough. It’s going from bad to worse. Our confidence is at rock bottom and the blind optimism I’ve had all season has disappeared like our chances of Champions League football in 2009.

It should get better but it’s hard to see how. Even the bright side is depressing. Of all our new signings the player who’s adapted quickest is on Man U’s books. The Hull game is now paramount we need to turn it on in front of our fans to ease the pressure on Juande. W can’t change manager again this season but the longer the performances stay as they are the more likely the board will make a panic change.

As bad as it was at least we’re still in the cup.

1 Oct, 08 | Tags: Match Reports

We are shocking.

Still propping up the league, bereft of goals, style and confidence we could be watching the biggest underachievers in Premier League history. Any team in a slump dream of meeting us next, except Newcastle. Pompey having come off a couple of tonkings last week should have been nervous. As it turned out they had a comfortable afternoon. All over the pitch they were better than us. Jermaine Defoe was excellent, Crouch gave us problems, Diarra was a man mountain in midfield and Sol was solid no matte how much we tried to put him off.

This is more than just about the points. A decent performance without a result would have been easier to cope with but while the team is serving up that shite the pressure continues to grow. Ramos must be feeling it a bit. Sections of the crowd gave him jip for refusing to play two up front when we were two nil down and the papers have cranked it up suggesting Juande has 180 mins of football to save his job.

At the begging of the season going to Poland to play an unfancied side in the UEFA Cup then Hull would be guaranteed progress and three points. Now getting knocked out of the UEFA Cup then facing the team that beat ars*nal at the Emirates in our next league game fills me with dread.

I was going to post highlights but it's too depressing.

25 Sep, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

That was awful. The first half was one of the worst 45 minutes of football ever witnessed. These were meant to be two Premier League sides but it looked more like a reserve team game. People pulling out of tackles, no cutting edge and nobody prepared to take responsibility. All the people who stayed away had the right idea.

The few positives that came out of the game were, firstly we won, Pavlov’s dog looks like he can handle himself and the Rushing Russian got his first goal, Dos Santos showed he’s fearless when he came on and Jamie O’Hara impressed again. Other than that JJ had another anonymous game and our better players struggled to get into the game.

We were looking for a performance but the result will do. All the talk after the game was about how we’re now unbeaten in three and ‘moving in the right direction’, hopefully that’s true. We’re away to Pompey next and after the drubbings they’ve been handed in the last few days you can’t expect it to be an open game. Unfortunately with the players we have at our disposal that’s exactly what we need. Last night showed that in a nervous cagey affair our shining lights are ineffective. We can only hope it was nerves but I suspect not.

Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Check out the goals below.

And it gets worse. Sitting in a car listening about the clash of the titans that was united chelsea, expecting to hear good news from the lane that never comes is a rubbish way to spend your Sunday.
I’ve since read match reports and seen it on MOTD and we looked lack lustre at best. Some have called it our worst performance of the season so far which is a worry after seeing the Villa game where we were awful.

Our new team has no leader. With Robbie Keane misfiring at Anfield maybe we can buy him back (for a fraction of the price). He’d more than welcome. Pavlov’s dog looks like he’s auditioning for the ‘New Rebrov’ title. It may as well be called ‘Scars In Our Eyes’ because it’s painful to watch.

Bendy looks game but limited and the rest of them are anonymous.

Next up are the geordies as we start our defence of the booze cup. That trophy win seems a very long time ago now. Every Spur I know has been saying it for weeks but hopefully a performance and a good result can kick start our season.

22 Sep, 08 | Tags: Match Reports | Video

Can someone please explain what’s going on? Your Spurs editor goes walk about for a few days and we’re still rubbish. With no Setanta on the road I found out about how we got on against Wisla Krakow the old fashioned way. Via text. With the number of expletives clogging up my inbox it’s safe to say we were shite.

I’ve since seen some highlights and we didn’t look great.

Bentley took his goal well but the way they carved us up for the equaliser was frightening. Bent’s finish was workman like with the Man U striker in the Spurs shirt doing well but I for one am terrified of the return fixture.

Surely this shower have got to get it right some time.

For anyone else who didn’t see it this is what happened.

What’s most disconcerting is the reason I didn’t see the game was because I was in the north east. Missing the game looks like a blessing but having some of the toon army in the pub next door chanting “Let’s all laugh at Tottenham” when they found out I was a Lilywhite was galling.

The rudderless Geordies laughing at us?

Catflap mag has a lot to answer for.

One point in four games and rock bottom of the league. This is not how it was meant to be. Most fans expect our new signings to take time to bed in but what we’ve seen so far just isn’t good enough.

Last night we were frankly awful. Our worst performance of the season so far. There was little guile, no pace and we resorted to lumping it up field. This is not the Tottenham way. Villa could have coped with that all day. In contrast they looked a threat whenever they had the ball and could have scored more.

Surely we’ll get better but when? We’ve got some big games coming up Wilsa Krakow in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, Wigan at home on Saturday and we start our defence of the Carling Cup against rudderless Newcastle next Wednesday. We need to win all three of those games. So we better improve quickly.

At least loads of our old boys are doing well. Mido and Defoe are scoring for fun and Martin Jol is top of the Bundesliga with Hamburg.

Being better for your new club after a tough time at Spurs?

Now that is the Tottenham way.

The first round of World Cup qualifiers are done and the good news is all of our players came through it unscathed. None of our boys got a run out against Andorra whilst Luka Modric notched against the mighty Kazakhstan.

With the Croatia England matchup on Wednesday watch it from behind the sofa and pray the national team can pull out a performance and Bentley and Modric don’t fly into each other for  blockbusting 50/50 challenge.

I’m keeping them crossed.

Check Luka’s strike on Saturday night, hopefully he'll be doing this for us in the coming weeks.

With so many new players coming in recently the theory is the international break has come at a good time for us. Bollocks. Most of them are internationals going into leg breaking fixures of their own. We may not have many England players anymore but most of the imports are amongst the best in their countries.

Ho hum, while we wait for the arrival of Villa on the 15th check out highlights of our creditable draw against the small club from Fulham.

One all eh? It’s rare this Hotspur gets a prediction right. Nevertheless, some how some way we’ve left the bridge with a point. It wasn’t pretty for long periods, especially after Chelsea scored. Even though we were fortunate with our goal we didn’t really look like conceding in the second half. Much credit has to go to our back four Gomez was commanding, Deadly Ledley was his usual self and Woody was immaculate. It was encouraging to see Bale as a threat going forward and props to young Gunter who hardly put a foot wrong.

There were a couple areas of concern. Our attacking midfielders were standing on each other’s toes and Bendy was isolated for long periods. But we looked decent when The Hud came on which can’t have been lost on Ramos. With a decent defensive midfielder next to him Tommy could surprise a few this season.

All in all a good result especially if you consider Chelsea’s formidable home form and our dia-bollocks record against the Russian’s playthings. Hopefully we can kick on from this, sort out the transfer nonsense and give a good account of ourselves at home to Villa after the international break.

Another day, another defeat. That’s two games where we’ve dominated possession and territory with no cutting edge. We’re not alone. All of the top teams have had games where their multi million pound strike forces haven’t bee firing on all cylinders but they’ve come out of those match-ups with something. They say it’s the sign of a top team that you can play badly and win. We’re playing badly and losing.

It doesn’t help the poor early season form coincides with an acrimonious break up with our best player. It’s a shame it’s come to this. If Berba got his head right and made his last few appearances for Spurs good ones most of the fans would be more understanding of his want to move. At the moment you can’t see anything but a negative reaction for Dimi the next time he’s at The Lane.

Fair play to Sunderland. Keano has got a squad who want to play for him, which seems like a luxury for us in our present position. Their goals were well taken and you can see the Black Cats doing alright this season if their first two showings are anything to go by.

I just hope we can kick start our season by being the first team to win a league game at Stanford Bridge since Ken Bates started puberty.

You can always dream.

Money can’t buy an away win on the opening day of the season. And boy have we tried. The last time we notched a 'W' away on the first day was four years ago when some tyke called Defoe scored the winner against Pompey.

After spending around £40 million of Enic's hard earned, the tag of 'most likely to break into the top four’ sits as comfortably Martin O'Neil on matchday on this weekend's showing. But this is the life we lead. Yoyo-ing from feeling hopelessly downbeat to having unrealistic dreams of world domination are as much a Spurs fans make up as Ricky Villa’s goal and hating Sol Campbell.

Fair play to ‘Boro. Even though we dominated possession they made the best chances. Once they made the breakthrough it seemed inevitable we’d make the long trip down the M1 with bubbles burst and no points. If it wasn’t for some generous refereeing they’d of beaten us by more than 2-1.

It’s clear we are in desperate need of a defensive midfielder Ramos trusts. Saturday showed that for all the pretty patterns we play in midfield we need more protection for the back four.

And how typical that it was old boy Mido who effectively put the game beyond us? He was gracious in his interview banging on about his respect for us and our fans but what price on old boys popping up every week to ruin our party?

And our next game? Sunderland. I can see it now. Chimbonda opens the scoring, Steed bags a brace, Tanio chips in with one with an assist from Andy Reid before reserve ‘keeper Marton Fulop seals it with a long range effort at the death.

Beware a player scorned.

North London natives since 1882, 1919 still not forgiven, Bill Nicholson – best ever, push and run, Greavsie, Gilzean, year ends in one. First British team to lift European trophy, first double winners. Hoddle, Waddle, Chas and Dave, cups, Ossie’s dream, “Is Gasgoine gonna have a crack? He is you know.” Klinsman’s dive, entertainers, decline, love a moan, false dawns, now’s our time, maybe next year, sell best players or walk for free. The Tottenham way.
