Palace turned down an offer of about £1million from Boro yesterday, but Gareth Southgate's club returned with an improved offer that will see the 23-year-old move to the Riverside. Watson is out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of the season and has refused an extension to his deal.My faith in the manager has just gone up a percentage after this crafty little purchase. Southgate obviously still has contacts at his former stomping ground and has talked his way into getting a bargain.
